Understanding The Power Of Praise
David O. Oyedepo

Praise is cardinal to the believer.  It is also a preservative of the blessings of God.

When you pray, God answers, but, when you praise, He steps in, in all His glory, might, power, and awesomeness!

Praise is not focusing on happenings; it is focusing in God’s faithfulness.  It is focusing on the integrity of God and the insight that you have received.  This is what makes praise endless.

What is praise?
The way into God’s presence (Psalm 100:4)
An instrument of honour (Psalm 149:1,6,9)

Why praise?
We are created to praise Him (Isaiah 43:21, 1 Peter 2:9)
Praise pleases God (Psalm 69:30-31)
Praise releases strange favours (Genesis 27:27)
Praise releases the harvest (Psalm 67:5-6)
Praise brings revealation (2 Kings 3:15)
Praise locates the way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Praise is your insurance against the enemy’s assaults (1 Chronicles 15:29)
Praise to pass on the battles (2 Chronicles 20:15-22)
Praise for supernatural lifts (Hababkuk 3:18-19)

Sources of Joy
Joy is the springboard for praise.  You can sing without actually praising, but it takes joy to genuinely praise God.
Holy Spirit (John 7:38-39)
The Word (Psalm 119:162)
Hope (Job 14:7-9)
Faith (Genesis 15:3-6)

Enemies of Praise
Murmuring and complaining (1 Corinthians 10:10)
Hopelessness (Ecclessiastes 9:4)
Following other gods (Exodus 20:3; 1 Timothy 6:10-11)
Being offended (Luke 8:15)
Being covetous (Luke 12:15)
